One of the few inventions of the Qing dynasty was the machine gun. Gunpowder had been invented many years before and multiple firearms had been created. The creation of gunpowder was a great advance in the creation of Chinese weaponry. The inventor, Dai Zi, had been interested in machines at an early age. Influenced by his father, who had created multiple firearms, he created the machine gun. It was simple. it used a gear mechanism to fire continuously and could store 28 bullets.
